The PROBAT Neptune Roaster is a drum roaster which rotates on a horizontal axis. This is the most conventional method of coffee roasting as well as the traditional form of slow roasting coffee. The PROBAT coffee roaster, NEPTUNE, is the culmination of the development of traditional slow-roasted coffee. Exquisite slow-roasts can be guaranteed with capacities of 480, 1,500 and 3,000 kilogram/hour (kg/h). The NEPTUNE roaster’s different designs and extensive variety of configurations allow it to meet the most diverse range of customer requirements.

The roasting times of the NEPTUNE drum roasters lie between 8 and 20 minutes. As heat is applied to the coffee beans over a longer period, a particularly high level of flavor is developed. NEPTUNE drum roasters offer this and many other benefits:

Safety
The heart of PROBAT’s NEPTUNE drum roasters is a horizontally lying roasting drum which is equipped with a rotary drive. Shovel blades circulate the coffee beans during the roasting process. The flame of a burner generates the energy for the roasting air which is guided both through as well as around the roasting drum by means of flaps. As such, heat is applied through conduction via the bean’s contact with the roasting drum as well as through convection via the hot incoming air. The addition of water systematically ends the roasting process while simultaneously precooling the roasted coffee.
